On August 19-21, 2025, Japanese State Minister of Justice KOMURA Masahiro visited Malaysia. His visit included participation in the ASEAN Law Forum 2025, "Enhancing Access to Justice in the ASEAN Community: Bridging Legal Cooperation for Inclusive Growth in the Digital Age," hosted by the Malaysian government.
At the Forum, Mr. Komura delivered a speech at a plenary session co-hosted by Japan's Ministry of Justice and the Asian International Arbitration Center. He emphasized his hope for increased international arbitration cooperation between ASEAN and Japan, and for stronger legal and judicial cooperation.
He also attended a ministerial-level meeting with ASEAN and Timor-Leste law ministers, witnessing the adoption of a “Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers on International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation Development.”
