On 24 February, Ambassador Takahashi gave a lecture on the 40th Anniversary of the Look East Policy (LEP) at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) as the first session of IDFR Lecture Series 2022. The lecture was broadcast live online.
In his lecture, Ambassador Takahashi introduced how LEP contributed to Malaysia’s economic development and promotion of mutual understanding between the two countries. He also described his views on the future of LEP and the bilateral relations, namely new areas of cooperation, strengthening two-way partnership, and joint efforts on global issues. He expressed his hope to activate discussion on the future of LEP and the bilateral relations by highlighting the 40th anniversary.
