Ambassador Shikata Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Malaysia-Japan Industrial & Innovation Expo 2026 (MJIIX 2026)

On 28th September, H.E. Mr. SHIKATA Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, attended the Opening Ceremony of the Malaysia-Japan Industrial & Innovation Expo 2026 (MJIIX 2026) at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur Campus and delivered the Launching Address.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by representatives from many countries, including Japan and Malaysia. During the event, many students and young researchers presented research outcomes and innovative ideas aimed at addressing a wide range of challenges facing society and industry, providing opportunities for active exchange among participants.

In his remarks, Ambassador SHIKATA highlighted how Japan-Malaysia cooperation is evolving from a one-way transfer of knowledge and technology towards a new stage of co-creation, in which both sides bring together their respective strengths to create new value. He also expressed his hope that research outcomes and innovative ideas from universities and research institutions would be translated into practical applications through closer collaboration with industry, leading to new technologies, services and business opportunities.

MJIIX 2026 provided a valuable opportunity to foster new exchanges among students, young researchers, universities and industry, and to further promote joint research and industry-academia collaboration between Japan and Malaysia and beyond.
