Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for Tan Sri Mohd Hassan bin Marican, former President and CEO of PETRONAS

On 19th September, the Embassy of Japan hosted a conferment ceremony for Tan Sri Mohd Hassan bin Marican, former President and CEO of PETRONAS. Japan has been Malaysia’s largest export partner since 1983. Japan's LNG imports from Malaysia was about 8 million tons in 1995, when Tan Sri assumed the position of President and CEO of PETRONAS. When Tan Sri stepped down the position in 2010, it increased to about 14 million tons. This order was conferred in recognition of his many years of contribution to strengthen relations between Japan and Malaysia in the energy sector.
