Mr. TAKEI Shunsuke, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Malaysia from 14 to 15 March.
On 14 March, at a working dinner hosted by YB Datuk Mohamad bin Haji Alamin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a working dinner for State Minister Takei. State Minister Takei expressed his hope to expand the bilateral cooperation further based on the strong bond between Japan and Malaysia, which has been supported by the long-standing Look East Policy. He also stated that he would like to promote cooperation with ASEAN as this year marks the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. Both sides agreed on coordinating with each other closely and exchanging views on a variety of issues, ranging from the bilateral cooperation including security to regional and international situations.
On 15 March, State Minister Takei visited KL Japanese Cemetery, Ambang Asuhan Jepun (AAJ: Special Preparatory Program to enter Japanese universities) at the Universiti Malaya and Oji Asia Packaging. He also met representatives of alumni associations for Malaysians who studied in Japan as well as representatives of Japanese companies in Malaysia to exchange views respectively.
