Port Call in Port Klang by Japan Coast Guard Patrol Vessel, PLH-41 “MIZUHO”

On 23 June, Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel Mizuho arrived at Port Klang. This is the first visit by a Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel to Malaysia since the patrol vessel Echigo's port call at Kuantan in January 2020. The arrival ceremony was held at Port Klang Cruise Terminal. H.E. Shikata Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, VAdm. Kanosue, vice commandant for operation, Japan Coast Guard, RAdm. (M) Mohd Zawawi bin Abdullah and many other officers from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) attended the ceremony. Mizuho received a warm welcome.
Furthermore, Mizuho participated in the joint exercise between the JCG and the MMEA off the coast of the Selangor State on 25 June.
Malaysia, which faces the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea, is an important country located in the middle of the sea lane connecting East Asia with the Middle East and Europe. Japan has consistently implemented programmes to support and ensure the safety of maritime navigation in this region.
In addition, the VAdm. Kanosue paid courtesy call to the Adm. (M) Datuk Haji Mohd Rosli bin Abdullah, the Director General of MMEA and to thew RAdm. Dato' Hanafiah bin Hassan, the Director General of the National Hydrographic Centre, Royal Malaysian Navy, to exchange views of further cooperation in the field of maritime safety and security in this region.
