The 23rd Japanese Speech Contest for Secondary Schools in Malaysia (2026)
2026/5/4
On 18 April, the 23rd Japanese Language Speech Contest Secondary Schools in Malaysia (2006) was held, co-organized by the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) and the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia. Mr. Kitaoka, Counsellor of the Embassy, attended the event.
In this year’s contest, 14 finalists who advanced through the preliminary rounds delivered presentations in Japanese under the theme “Star,” each sharing their ideas from unique perspectives. The presentations covered a wide range of topics, from personal experiences to broader social issues, and were all marked by creativity and strong engagement.
Serving as Chair of the Judging Committee, Mr. Kitaoka delivered remarks, commending each participant for their efforts and achievements, and highlighting the importance of expressing one’s own ideas in Japanese. The winner was awarded the Ambassador’s Cup presented by the Embassy.
This contest provides a valuable opportunity for students to showcase the results of their Japanese language studies, while also contributing to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Malaysia. The Embassy remains committed to further advancing Japanese language education.
