Guardian Girls Malaysia Launch Reception

On 28th August, the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia hosted the Guardian Girls Malaysia (GGM) Launch Reception at the Ambassador's Residence. The event marked the launch of GGM, an initiative aimed at empowering women and girls and protecting their rights through martial arts.
The reception was organized by the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with Guardian Girls International (GGI), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), the United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health (UNU Global Health), and the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM). The event brought together YB Tuan Mordi Anak Bimol, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, representatives of Malaysian martial arts organizations, and other stakeholders to celebrate the launch of GGM.
During the reception, Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between GGI and four Malaysian martial arts organizations—Malaysia Judo Federation, Malaysia Ju-Jitsu Federation, Aikido Shudokan Malaysia, and Persekutuan Silat Kebangsaan Malaysia.
On the following day, the Southeast Asia Women Citizen Dialogue Malaysia and a martial arts seminar were held. The events provided a platform for discussions on women's empowerment and gender equality, while practical self-defence training sessions were conducted for participants.
It is hoped that this initiative will further advance efforts to prevent violence against women and girls, promote gender equality, and strengthen cooperation among the participating organizations.
