Official Visit by Ambassador Oka to the State of Sarawak

From the 5th to the 6th of February, Ambassador Oka made an official visit to Kuching, the State of Sarawak and had a courtesy calls on YAB Datuk Pattingi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister, and TYT tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, Head of State together with Ms. Kako, Head of Consular Office of Japan in Kota Kinabalu. At the meetings, they reconfirmed the cordial relations between Japan and Sarawak over the years and exchanged views for further cooperation in the field of, such as, energy and green technology.
In addition, during the stay, Ambassador Oka lay a bouquet at the cenotaph in the Kuching Japanese cemetery and had a meeting with representatives of the Japanese community exchanging views over local business, social welfare as well as cultural exchange activities. Furthermore, Ambassador Oka observed a reforestation site where Japan Malaysia Association leads the efforts with the help of local Malaysians and the Japanese companies, and planted a memorial tree wishing for an early recovery of beautiful tropical rainforest.
