Ambassador Takahashi visited Universiti Malaya

On 8 February, Ambassador Takahashi visited the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Language and Linguistics at Universiti Malaya, and met Datuk Professor Dr. Danny Wong Tze Ken, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Associate Professor Dr. Surinderpal Kaur, Dean of Faculty of Language and Linguistics. After that, Ambassador Takahashi visited the AAJ; Ambang Asuhan Jepun (Special Preparatory Program to enter Japanese universities) , and met Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed, Director of Pusat Asasi Sains (Center for Foundation studies) and Japanese teachers including Mr. Kurioka Seishi, Head of the Japanese teachers.
In each discussion, Ambassador Takahashi expressed his appreciation to each organization for being a foundation of the Look East Policy over the years, looking forward to more collaboration with them towards the 40th anniversary of the LEP.
Japan Studies Program in UM is the only programme in Malaysia that offers a bachelor’s degree in Japan studies.
Japanese Language Programme in UM is the only programme in Malaysia that offers a bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language and Linguistics.
AAJ was established for the students, who are planning to study in Japan under the Look East Policy. Japanese teachers sent by the Japanese Government are teaching Japanese, mathematics, physics and chemistry.
