Signing ceremony of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects

The Japanese government has awarded the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects 2019 to the Down Syndrome Association of Malaysia. The signing ceremony of the Grant Contract has held at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, H.E. Mr Oka Hiroshi.
(Outline of the project)
(1) Project: The project for construction of Technical Vocational Education and Training Center for Down Syndrome
(2) Recipient: Down Syndrome Association of Malaysia
(3) Outline: Construction of a technical vocational education and training center to enable the association to provide vocational programs to strengthen the daily living skills of individuals with Down Syndrome for their future independence.
(4) Grant amount: USD 88,823 (equivalent to RM 371,914)
Ambassador Oka mentioned in his speech that 21st March was World Down Syndrome Day and he was pleased to award the grant to the association during such a significant time. He added that the Government of Japan would continue to contribute towards enhancing the quality of life of Malaysians at the grass roots level.
Puan Hanizan bt Hussin, the President of the Down Syndrome Association of Malaysia, expressed the association’s gratitude for the award, and the prospect of utilizing the award for vocational training and to support the approximately 15,000 registered individuals with Down Syndrome in Malaysia.
