On 1st June, Ambassador Shikata attended the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Special Concert in Kuala Lumpur. This concert, held at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall, marked the orchestra’s first-ever performance in Malaysia and was part of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra’s Asia Project.
Under the baton of Mr. Otomo Naoto, the orchestra presented a classical program that included a piano performance by Mr. Ushida Tomoharu.
The Tokyo Symphony Orchestra is engaged in its Asia Project, an initiative aimed at promoting musical culture throughout Asia through cultural and people-to-people exchange. In September this year, the orchestra is scheduled to perform jointly with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Hirokami Junichi.
It is hoped that, beyond these performances, musical exchange will continue to deepen the friendship and cultural ties between Japan and Malaysia in the years to come.
