Foreign Minister’s Commendations Award Presentation -Mr. Kenneth Ch'ng, President of the Malaysia Origami Association

On November 11, the Embassy of Japan held an award ceremony to present the Foreign Minister‘s Commendation for FY 2021 to Mr. Kenneth Ch'ng, President of the Malaysia Origami Association, in recognition of his continuous efforts in promoting the art of origami in Malaysia through various channels.
 
In his speech, Ambassador Oka highlighted Mr. Kenneth’s major activities including promoting origami through university lectures and seminars by introducing how computational origami is being developed and how origami designs are used in fields such as medicine and architecture, as well as introducing the fun of the Origami to primary and secondary school students via school visits.
 
November 11 is World Origami Day, and this award ceremony was held during World Origami Day 2021 Virtual Ceremony. In this ceremony, Ambassador Oka, Mr. Shimada Seiya, Director of Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, Professor Dr. Jun Mitani, Japan Cultural Envoy and Mr. Salehhuddin B. MD Salleh, Chief Information Officer and Vice Director General, Plan and Policy Division, Malaysia National Department for Culture and Arts, delivered their messages to enhance and cultivate cultural exchange between Japan, Malaysia and the global Origami community through the art and science of Origami.
