Japan’s Grant Assistance to Malaysia through International Organisations for Prevention of Further Spread of the Novel Coronavirus Diseases (COVID-19): Ambassador Takahashi attended the handover ceremony of Covid-19 Prevention Equipment

On the 18th of February, the following COVID-19 Prevention Equipment were handed over by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to Malaysian Prison Department.
 
- 20,000 units of COVID-19 Antigen Test Self-Test Kit (Saliva)
- 5,000 units of Surgical Isolation Coverall Suit with Boot Cover
 
This handover was conducted utilising a part of contribution from Japan to UNODC in 2021 amounting USD 6,404,545 for Southeast Asian countries to address COVID-19.
 
In the ceremony, witnessed by Ambassador Takahashi, handover notes were signed by Hon. Dato’ Haji Nordin bin Haji Muhamad, Commissioner General of Malaysian Prison and Mrs. Asma Sainkoudje, Coordinator of UNODC Office in Malaysia.
 
Ambassador Takahashi stated that we recognised the importance of preventing Covid-19 infections inside Malaysian prisons and he sincerely hoped that the equipment handed over today would contribute towards solving this problem, Japan has cooperated with Malaysia and UNODC in various areas and he hoped the relationship between Japan and Malaysia would continue to develop further through our joint efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, with the help of international organisations such as UNODC.
