Minister KARIMATA attended a memorable event hosted by JMTI

On 18th October, Minister KARIMATA attended a memorable event hosted by Japan Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTI) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of JMTI's establishment and the 40th anniversary of the Look East Policy.
 
JMTI is the highest ranked vocational training institute under the Manpower Department, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, located in Penang. The Government of Japan has supported JMTI  in various ways, including the provision of equipment and dispatch of experts via JICA. As JMTI's contribution to Japan-Malaysia relations has been significant, in 2019, JMTI received the Foreign Minister's Commendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
 
The event was officiated by Ms. Norliza binti Yaakub, Director of JMTI and also attended by Dato’ Ts. Haji Zaihan bin Shukri, former Director of JMTI, Mr. Shakib bin Ahmad Shakir, Director General of the Manpower Department, Mr. Mat Setia bin Mohd. Raji, Deputy Director General of the Manpower Department and Mr. Siva Kumar Solay Rajah, Undersecretary of Policy Division as well as Many JMTI alumni gathered to celebrate the success of JMTI to date.
 
In opening remarks, Ms. Norliza and Mr. Shakib introduced JMTI's accomplishments to date, and appreciated the Government of Japan and JICA for their past support for the establishment and operation of JMTI. Minister KARIMATA also congratulated JMTI on its great success, and expressed his hope for further cooperation with JMTI based on the Look East Policy.
