Ambassador Shikata Attends the Official Launch Ceremony of the LaLaport Transportation Hub

On 16 July, H.E. Mr. Shikata Noriyuki, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, attended the official launch ceremony of the LaLaport Transportation Hub, held at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC).
The ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri TPr Fadlun bin Mak Ujud, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, and other distinguished guests.
The LaLaport Transportation Hub is a fully covered transportation facility developed by leveraging Mitsui Fudosan's expertise in Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) cultivated in Japan, in close collaboration with Malaysian authorities and partners. Located on the basement level of LaLaport BBCC, the hub features 11 boarding and alighting bays, offering excellent access to three urban rail lines as well as Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) services, making it a comprehensive transit node for seamless urban mobility. Currently, approximately 30 operators provide services including express bus routes between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as well as airport shuttle services, with plans to eventually accommodate up to 10,000 passengers per day.
In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Shikata highlighted that this facility was realised through collaboration between the public and private sectors of Japan and Malaysia, and expressed his view that it represents a hallmark of the Japan-Malaysia partnership, bringing tangible benefits to the lives of the people of both countries.
