The joint international training program “Capacity Enhancement for Coast Guard Officers: International Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Course” between Malaysia and Japan was successfully finished

On 17th of August, Mr. KARIMATA, Minister and Deputy chief of mission, Embassy of Japan was invited and attended to the Closing Ceremony of the Third Country Training Program “Capacity Enhancement for Coast Guard Officers: International Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Course” conducted by Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) with cooperation from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (MOFA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Coast Guard (JCG).

In the Closing Ceremony, Mr. Karimata rewarded participants for their hard training days in recent two weeks, and encourage to establish effective frameworks and robust international network for the maritime search and rescue activities. He also acknowledged Malaysia’s dedicated commitment to maritime safety and security and appreciate MMEA’s remarkable cooperation for organizing this international training.

Japan would continue the support to capacity building projects implemented by Malaysia.
