Ambassador Shikata’s Attendance at the 7th Asia Kakehashi Project Send-off Ceremony

On August 19, Ambassador Shikata attended the send-off ceremony for the 7th Asia Kakehashi Project and delivered a message of encouragement to 9 Malaysian high school students who will study in Japan this year and 3 Japanese high school students currently studying in Malaysia through AFS.
Drawing on his own experience of studying abroad through an AFS program, Ambassador Shikata expressed his hope that the students will make the most of their study-abroad experience in the future. He also emphasized that people-to-people exchange is a key pillar supporting the warm Japan–Malaysia relationship and expressed his expectation for the exchanges to further deepen the bilateral ties.
Through the Asia Kakehashi Project, the Government of Japan provides study-abroad opportunities in Japan for Asian high school students who are studying Japanese.
