The 2nd Japan-ASEAN Ship Rider Cooperation Program

The Japan Ministry of Defense conducted its 2nd Japan-ASEAN Ship Rider Cooperation Program on board the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Ship OSUMI from 10 to 15 MAY 2018. This program is an initiative of Japan's ''Vientiane Vision'' which was announced by Japan during the ASEAN-Japan Defense Ministers' Informal Meeting in November 2016. Consistent with the guiding principles of the ''Vientiane Vision'', this program, inviting all ASEAN members states, will help contribute to regional stability by providing opportunities for participants to build mutual understanding and professional networks, enhance capabilities related to maritime security and share understanding of international maritime law.
