Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star upon Tan Sri Mohd Radzi bin Abdul Rahman, former Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia and former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Japan

On the 23rd of February, the Embassy of Japan hosted a conferment ceremony for Tan Sri Mohd Radzi bin Abdul Rahman, former Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia and former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Japan, who received The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, as 2021 Autumn Conferment of Decorations for foreign recipients.
 
Tan Sri Mohd Radzi served as Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan from 2006 to 2009 and as Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia from 2010 to 2013. As Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, Tan Sri Mohd Radzi actively led various exchange programs between Japan and Malaysia on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia in 2007. Furthermore, as Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, Tan Sri Mohd Radzi played a significant role on strengthening the Look East Policy,which marked its 30th anniversary in 2012, including the establishment of the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) to provide Japanese-style engineering education in Malaysia, and suggestion to upgrade the Policy as a “Second Wave” with added value, which turned into the“Look East Policy 2.0” and has been working until today.
 
His dedication to contribution to enhance Japan-Malaysia relationship has earned him Decorations by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
It is our great honour to celebrate the conferment upon Tan Sri, who has a deep affinity with the Look East Policy, in its 40th anniversary this year.
 
The ceremony was attended by Tan Sri Dr Syed Hamid Albar, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, Tan Sri Radzi’ s family members and others, congratulating Tan Sri on his conferment.
