On 28th June, Ambassador Shikata attended the final race of“2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Round 3 SUPER GT Malaysia Festival 2025” held at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.
SUPER GT is a premier motor racing series featuring high-performance GT cars. It began in 1994 as the Japan GT Championship and has been held as an FIA (International Automobile Federation)-certified international series since 2005.
Malaysia had previously served as one of the host countries until 2013, and this year marked the series' return to Malaysia after a 12-year hiatus. A total of 75,977 spectators attended the event over two days; qualifying on 27th June and the final race on 28th June.
Alongside the races, “Nihon Matsuri” was also held, featuring Japanese cuisine and culture, and contributing to the festival's vibrant atmosphere and cultural exchange.
In addition to watching the final race, Ambassador Shikata took part in the award ceremony as the presenter for the GT300 class winning team. Prior to the race, he also met and encouraged Mr. Jazeman Jaafar, one of Malaysia’s leading drivers, who participated in the event.
The SUPER GT Malaysia Festival is scheduled to continue annually for three years through 2027, and it is expected to further enhance Japan–Malaysia exchange through motorsports and cultural engagement.
