The Visit to Malaysia by Mr. KIHARA Minoru, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister for National Security Affairs

From the 22nd to 24th of January 2020, Mr. KIHARA Minoru, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister for National Security Affairs visited Malaysia.
On the 23rd of January, Mr. KIHARA extended a short greeting to Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and had a bilateral meeting with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Minister of Home Affairs. On the 24th, Mr. KIHARA also had a bilateral meeting with the Right Honourable Senator Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Defence.
At each meeting, Mr. KIHARA exchanged views on the bilateral cooperation between Japan and Malaysia, regional affairs, such as the South China Sea, and “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
In addition, Mr. KIHARA observed oil spill Equipment Handling Training by Japan Coast Guard and Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency in the oil spill respnce workshop in Port Klang in responding to a direct request from Prime Minister Mahathir. Mr. KIHARA also visited the JCG patrol vessel“ECHIGO”and gave remarks to encourage the crew members.
