2022/6/27
On 24th June 2022, Ambassador Takahashi attended online a send-off ceremony for the 27 Malaysian high school students of Asia KAKEHASHI Project 2022. Ambassador Takahashi congratulated and wished them well for a fruitful journey to pursue their studies in Japan. In his message, Ambassador Takahashi hoped that the Malaysian students would actively communicate with Japanese high school students to learn from each other and fully enjoy the Japanese culture and food.

Asia KAKEHASHI Project, announced by then Prime Minister Abe Shinzo during the Nikkei Seminar, “Future of Asia” in June 2017, is intended to build a bridge that connects the future of Japan and Asia including Malaysia. Under the project from 2018 to 2023, the Japanese Government of Japan provides opportunities to a total of 1,000 Asian high schoolers to study in Japan. Until last year, 82 Malaysian high school students had joined the Project.

The Embassy hopes that the Malaysian students will learn, build and deepen friendship with their Japanese peers and become the bridge (KAKEHASHI) as leaders who are well familiar with both countries.
