Ambassador Shikata attended the the SOF-EA Gameathon 2026 Grand Finals and Closing Ceremony

On 23rd May, Ambassador SHIKATA Noriyuki attended the Grand Finals and Closing Ceremony of "SOF-EA Gameathon 2026," held at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur Campus. The event is an initiative  by a student-led club called, Software Engineering Society (SOF-EA) of the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), which aims to cultivate students' technical competency and creative expression through game development.
 
This year's Gameathon theme was "Japanese Culture," and participants took on the challenge of incorporating elements of Japanese culture into their game designs and storytelling. The competition attracted over 100 participants from 33 teams.
 
Ambassador Shikata served as Chief Judge at the Grand Finals, evaluating the Top 5 finalist teams. During the Closing Ceremony, Ambassador Shikata delivered a speech commending the efforts and creativity of the participating students who dedicated themselves to developing original games based on the theme of Japanese culture. He also expressed his hope for the further deepening of educational and cultural exchanges between Japan and Malaysia through digital innovation and cultural exchange.
