2026/6/29
On 20th June, Ambassador SHIKATA Noriyuki attended the “ALEPS EKIDEN 2026”, organized by Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS).
More than 3,000 runners participated in this year's event, the third edition of the ALEPS Ekiden. The event featured a team relay race based on the concept of Japan's traditional ekiden. Teams of four runners passed a tasuki (relay sash) while covering a total distance of 22 km, competing in teamwork and endurance. A 5.5 km Fun Run was also held.
Ambassador Shikata presented awards to the top-performing teams and congratulated all participants on their achievements.
Two teams from the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia also participated in the Ekiden.
It is hoped that sports and cultural exchanges such as this event will further strengthen the friendship between Japan and Malaysia and deepen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
