Foreign Minister’s Commendation Award Presentation Ceremony - Badminton Association of Malaysia

On 26th March, the Embassy of Japan held an award ceremony to present the Commendation for FY 2020 to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in recognition of their significant contributions in promoting mutual understanding through badminton between Japan and Malaysia.
Ambassador Oka highlighted the active exchanges between BAM and Ehime Prefecture after the Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2018 between Tan Sri Norza Zakaria, President of BAM and Mr. Tokihiro Nakamura, Governor of Ehime and President of the Badminton Association of Ehime. Ehime is the host town for the Malaysian badminton team for Tokyo 2020.
And also in his speech, Ambassador Oka congratulated Malaysia’s No. 1 Men’s Single, Mr. Lee Zii Jia on his recent stunning victory win at the All-England Badminton Championships. Ambassador Oka also stated the Olympic torch relay begun from Fukushima on 25th March and will continue until the opening ceremony of Tokyo 2020 on 23rd July.
The governor Nakamura sent a special video message all the way from Ehime to congratulate BAM’s Commendation achievement, wishing them success at the most anticipated sports event,the Tokyo 2020.
