Japan will provide AstraZeneca vaccines manufactured in Japan to Malaysia

Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu announced today that the Government of Japan would like to provide AstraZeneca vaccines manufactured in Japan to Malaysia as well as Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand from July, if various circumstances allow, and will advance its coordination.
 
Based on Foreign Minister’s announcement today, the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia will continue to work closely with the Government of Malaysia to provide the vaccine to the Malaysians. This will be another symbol of friendship between Japan and Malaysia.

The Government of Japan held the COVAX AMC Summit with Gavi to raise additional funding to secure necessary vaccines for developing countries by the end of 2021, and announced Japan’s additional contribution of 800 million USD, which brings the total contribution of 1 billion USD to the COVAX Facility.
